BIOGRAPHY
The 3 members of Dario G, Scott Rosser, Paul Spencer and Stephen Spencer.are one of the hottest
things to come out of Crewe in Cheshire. With a British number 2 and a Hugarian number one with
their first release they have become a formidable force in the dance industry. Paul Spencer and
Scott Rosser first met at college in 1989 while they were both doing their Pop Music and Recording
Course at Manchester. When the two graduated Scott and Paul set up a small studio in Pauls home
in Cheshire. Both started to make record under different names and released them on their own or
on independent labels. In October 1996
they met Stephen Paul Spencer. Stephen was working for one
of the leading independent Dance labels at the time. With the help of Stephen the three created
Sunchyme. The song used a sample from Dream Acadamys: "Life in a northern Town". The three piece
band still did not have a name though. At this time their local football team Crewe Alexandra had
just been promoted to the first division. The teams manager was regarded as a hero in the local
press and the boys decided to name their band after the local hero
hence Dario G. After Promoting
themselves within the industry the finally landed a contract with Warner. Sunchyme was released in
September '97 and sold 2 Million Copies. It became number one in Hungary but in other countries
including Britain they were kept off the top spot by Elton John's Candle in the Wind. In America
Sunchyme went straight to number one in the Billboard Dance Charts but it did not cross over into
the pop Charts. The video also was succcesful being used to promote racial equality by the Red Cross
and Nelson Mandella. Dario G were nominated for several awards in '98 most notably the Brit Awards
for their Video. They finished their album off before releasing their second single 'Carnaval De Paris'
which became the unofficial anthem for the 98 World Cup. It reached number 5 in the Bitish Charts.
At this time the band did their first live gig in the olympic statdium in Berlin. The germans were using
Carnaval De Paris for their coverage. Their second gig in Seville had an attendence of 100,000 people.
Another well recognised video which critics described as "video of the year",accopanied Carnaval De Paris,
which became one of the most played on MTV. The band released their single, Sun machine. Whilst not so
well received as the other two hits it still managed to reach Number 17 in the UK Charts. The year ended with
